RE the Scarborough park and ride scheme.
In theory it is a marvellous idea, keeping cars out of the town centre.

Three friends and I wanted a couple of hours shopping in Scarborough and decided to give the park and ride a try. We were astounded at the charge – £1.80 return for a five-minute bus ride, £7.20 for the four of us.

The next week we decided to drive into Scarborough and use a car park. The price for two hours parking? £1.50!

Is it any wonder, as Sarah Birks says, she sees only one person on the bus?

We will be giving park and ride "time to improve itself" as Peter Shipp suggests, but at that price it is not likely.
