Re Filey Junior School fence (Mercury, May 23).
By all means keep the children safe, but only one gate in the whole of the perimeter fence and no vehicle access at all?

What do the emergency services say to that? What about emergency evacuation of how many children on to a narrow pavement? How will the refuse bins get emptied or food supplies get delivered to the canteen? Also there will be more cars parked in The Croft.

What really interests me is the fence across the playing field with no gate to allow access for games. Does this mean what I think it means and all the playing field is to be sold for housing?

With all this security maybe they won't need that useless expensive lighting which only shows any burglar what they're doing as nobody is looking out to report voluntarily any sign of activity!

Come on Mr McCarth- ey, think again.

Report: This boy could do better.
