I AM writing to fully support Cllr Brian O'Flynn's statement: "I'm amused to read in the papers presented to us that the new supermarket will have a minimal effect on existing shops in town. You can believe that if you like – I certainly don't." (Mercury, October 24).
Filey is a very unique seaside resort. We have the small local shops, everyone in them is friendly and courteous.

The businesses have just experienced a bumper summer season. People have not gone abroad for holidays but spent them in the UK.

Has thought been given to the parking in Filey, by Tesco occupying the all-day parking facility behind the bus station?

Thank you to Tesco for coming and goodbye to the Filey we all know and love.
