HAVING moved to the Filey area recently I am delighted to go and listen to the Friday lunchtime concerts at the Evron Centre.
Vincent Billington is a concert pianist of international repute and exceptional talent who also has a wry sense of humour.

One does not have to be high-brow, I certainly am not, to enjoy music since there is something for all tastes. The programm
es are varied. Sometimes it is the life story of the composer with a narrator and accompanying music, other times there may be a guest artist, and, of course, a favourite performance is the violin and viola player Phillip Mindenhall.

Occasionally there is a very popular request programme where the audience is able to have their favourite piece of music played – all off the cuff and with no music by VB.

As an extra treat Bernadette Billington creates one of her lovely flower displays as the music is being played. I never cease to be amazed how many things Bernadette produces from under the table.

All in all it is a wonderful hour from 12.30-1.30pm for the modest sum of £4 per person. There is always a warm welcome on the door from Maria Billington, and over the weeks people learn and grow to love the music without realising at the time all the knowledge imparted. Good teaching there!

We are so fortunate to have such talent on our doorstep in Filey, so do go and see for yourselves. Enjoy!
