FILEY police have appealed for motorists to stay safe after reports of owners creeping over a level crossing - despite trains quickly approaching.

Officers were called to the Muston level crossing around 5.30pm on Wednesday evening after reports of a broken barrier.

Police said they had received reports from witnesses who saw motorists defy the warning signs to pass over the crossing. The barrier was repaired around 7.40pm.
