A NEW Filey housing development has been officially unveiled.

Filey mayor Cllr Richard Walker cut the ribbon to mark the opening of 19 new properties in Old Crown Way, in Mitford Street.

The £2.1 million development was completed by housing association Accent Foundation with support from Filey Town Council and Scarborough Council.

The new properties are a mixture of flats and homes.

Six of the houses and all of the flats are available for rent and are targeted at people currently on currently on the housing register across the borough.

Five of the homes are for sale as shared ownership to first time buyers.

Claire Stone, Accent Foundation’s Managing Director, said: “I’m very pleased to see the completion and opening of our new apartments and houses in Old Crown Way.

“Throughout the planning and building work, we have worked closely with Scarborough Council, Filey Town Council, our main contractors Strategic Team Group and the Homes and Communities Agency to make sure the homes were built to the best modern design standards, and meet the needs and aspirations of the local people who will be living in them.”

The development was partly funded to the tune of £800,000 by Government body, the Homes and Communities Agency.

The homes took just over a year to complete.
