Tips for planting daffodils

Spring is set to bring a spread of yellow at Filey Country Park following a bulb planting event this weekend.

The Friends of Filey Parks community group is preparing to plant thousands of bulbs in Filey Country Park in a bid to make sure it is ‘blooming beautiful’ for Spring next year.

Volunteers are being invited to meet in the entrance to the Country Park on Saturday, October 27, from 10am until noon when they will be planting daffodil bulbs.

The planting day is part of the Make a Difference Day campaign, which is a national campaign taking place across the country where groups of local people can volunteer their time to make a difference in their community.

It could be as little as an hour or as much as a day. Tasks can be wide ranging and include anything that makes a difference to the lives of local people.

Speaking ahead of the planting day a spokesman for the Friends of Filey Parks, said: “We would be delighted to welcome anyone who wants to help with the bulb plant, whether it’s just for an hour or until the job is completed. All equipment is provided but volunteers are asked to wear sturdy shoes or boots. Children are most welcome if accompanied by responsible adults.”
