OFFICERS from the elections team at Scarborough Council will be taking their election roadshow to Filey next Friday.
Following the success of visits to local schools and colleges to encourage students to register to vote, the team is rolling out a similar exercise to raise the profile of voting among residents of all ages.

Officers will be at the Brunswick Centre, Scarbor- ough, on Tuesday, in New Quay Road, Whitby, on Wed- nesday, and at Filey tourism information centre between 10am and 3pm next Friday.

Residents will be able to check with officers whether they are on the Electoral Register, and, if they are not registered, can complete a voter registration form and also apply for a postal vote.

Elections officer Sue Bedford said: "If these roadshows prove as successful as our visits to schools and college we should be able to raise the awareness of the importance of voting and add many more residents to the Electoral Register."
