THE Muston in Bloom group is all set for its third annual Strawberry Tea afternoon.
The event, which will take place at Muston Village Green from 2pm until 4.30pm today, had to be relocated to the village hall last year because of the dreadful weather.
But that didn’t put off the countless local people who turned up in support an
d organisers hope this year’s extravaganza will prove just as successful.
Chairman Brian Stevenson said: “We are planning a great afternoon and we are inviting everyone to come along to enjoy strawberries and cream with a summer glass of wine.
“There will be an opportunity to browse the plant stall for that favourite flower for your garden, or you can stock up on delicious homemade cakes to take away.
“There will also be plant demonstrations from the bloom caravan by parks and countryside services and a fun quiz as well as children’s activities.”
Roger Burnett, Scarborough Council’s parks and countryside services manager, whose team is supporting the event, said he hopes villagers will help out around the village in the days leading up to the next round of judging.
He said: “Yorkshire in Bloom judges will be visiting Muston for summer judging on Thursday July 10 and they will be hoping to see the entire community rallying round to tidy, sweep, plant and generally put on a good display.
“Please do your best to put out flower baskets and boxes, and ensure the village is spick and span.”
Tickets cost £3 for adults and £1.50 for children and are available from Mr Stevenson and any member of the Muston in Bloom group.
