HUNMANBY struck gold at this week's Yorkshire in Bloom awards, being named the best "small country town" at a prestigious ceremony in Bridlington.
The village will go on to represent the whole of Yorkshire in the national awards next year – something Filey last achieved in 2003 and Hunmanby has never managed before.
The chairman of Hunmanby in Bloom, Eileen Piper, who also won an Outstanding Contribution gong at the Best Kept Gardens ceremony in Scarborough on Wednesday, said: "I've been jumping up and down ever since.
"It's a real reward for everybody who's worked so hard. The whole village has been involved, and the school has done absolutely fantastically.
"It's a wonderful accolade for the whole village – it will give us a national profile."
Mrs Piper said to have achieved it in just five years was "unprecedented", according to the judges.
