I WOULD like to pay a heartfelt tribute to Vincent Billington who gave such pleasure to his loyal fans on Friday lunchtimes at the Evron Centre in Filey.
It’s been a joy and a privilege to listen to a much loved and respected and so talented a concert pianist, who remained a kind modest family man – even if he was a Manchester City supporter!
There were all types of concerts from composers’ life stories to request concerts and a memorable memorial concert in November, and so many others.
Music must come from the heart, he said, and it did, mixed with humour and his dry wit. Once he played a duet all by himself – work that one out!
Bernadette did lovely original flower arrangements sometimes. Philip did narrations and played the violin and viola, while Maria sorted just about everything else. Happy times. Thank you, Vincent, and God bless.
However, Maria is planning a lunchtime concert on March 5 at Filey Methodist Church in Filey, so we will be able to look forward to that.
Obviously it will be different, but I’m sure it will be enjoyable.
