A FILEY couple who met in the town's Crescent Gardens have celebrated reaching a very special milestone – their 70th wedding anniversary.
Bill Farline, 93, and his wife Carrie, 89, marked the platinum occasion with a party at their home at West Avenue, where they were joined by dozens of their family and friends.
The pair put the success of their marriage down to "working together and being happy".
Filey-born Mr Farline met his wife- to-be at a dance in the Crescent gardens while she was holidaying in the town.
The couple tied the knot two years later at Burnt Oak in London, where they lived for almost a year while Mr Farline trained greyhounds at Wembley Stadium.
When the Second World War broke out Mr Farline joined the Army and when he was demobbed the couple set up home together in Filey.
Mr Farline worked for various firms as a painter and decorator, and in the 1960s the couple opened the Unicorn home bakers and cafe in Union Street.
They then ran the South Haven Guest House in Rutland Street for a number of years until they retired.
Mr Farline formerly played snooker at Filey Conservative Club, while Mrs Farline used to be a regular at the Salvation Army in Filey and is a former member of the Filey Singers and the Palette Painting Group.
The couple have five children, John, David, Carol, Linda and Elaine, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
