FILEY Country Park is set for a new children's play area after being included in Government plans to improve facilities for youngsters.
The site has been chosen by North Yorkshire County Council to receive a share of a £1.3 million budget designed to transform outdated play area's.
The park is one of only 18 sites across North Yorkshire to be chosen for the scheme and the council has employed artists and filmmakers to work with children and parents to design facilities offering youngsters freedom and exploration.
Caroline Patmore, North Yorkshire's executive member for children's services said: "We have a great opportunity to create very different play spaces that reflect the unique qualities of the environment and we hope generations of children will benefit greatly from what we have started."
