SAMARITANS Day – July 24 is a date to highlight the charity's services which are available 24/7 365 days a year.
To mark the occasion, the ?rst-ever national Samaritans SmartCar tour reaches its final pitstop in Birmingham today.

Sponsored by Admiral, Samaritans volunteers from across England, Scotland and Wales have been in gear, ready to make this year's
24:7 national awareness campaign the best yet.

The charity that helps millions of people in emotional distress and at risk of suicide will be raising awareness of its vital 24-hour service.

The Samaritans' car has visited over 175 branches across the three
nations covering almost 5,000 miles during its two-week tour.

Catherine Johnstone, chief executive with Samaritans said: "Saturday 24 July – 24/7 – is the perfect day to raise awareness of Samaritans' round-the-clock availability. The charity is the only service available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, offering support to anyone experiencing emotional distress. "

Samaritans' vision is for a society where fewer people die by suicide because people are able to share feelings of emotional distress openly without fear of being judged.

Mary, of Scarborough Samaritans, said: "This is an awareness day to remind people we are there. We're a quiet, in the background organisation."
