The pride of Scarborough’s borough will be recognised at a sparkling award ceremony - and we need you to nominate your unsung heroes.

Selfless people who have carried out good deeds, taken on a personal challenge or a headteacher's most deserving pupil are just some of the types of commitment that will be recognised at the Borough's Big Thank You awards.

The awards will be run by the mayor of the borough Cllr Tom Fox, in conjunction with The Scarborough News, the Filey and Hunmanby Mercury and the Whitby Gazette. The main sponsors are McCain.
The winners will be announced at Scarborough Spa Complex on Tuesday April 19.

The closing date for nominations is Thursday March 17 2016, but please complete and return the form now so we can publish some of them.

The 2016 categories:

Borough Pride
Carer/Helper
Charitable Fundraising
Courage Over Adversity
Creative Efforts
Good Deeds
Headteacher’s Most Deserving Pupil
Personal Challenge
Uniformed Groups
Volunteer of the Year

There is a chance to nominate someone you know in awards for Charitable Fundraising, Uniformed Groups and Headteacher's Most Deserving Pupil Award.

Selflessness will be rewarded in the Good Deeds and Volunteer of the Year awards, and arts and performance is rewarded in the Creative Efforts award.

The Borough Pride award honours those who have aimed to improve the borough’s environment of its reputation, with those who have sacrificed their time in an outstanding effort to care for or help another in the Carer/Helper category.

Cllr Fox said: "The Borough's Big Thank You is a marvellous way to acknowledge success and thank people and organisations for what they do for the good of the borough.
"To publicly say thank you and acknowledge what’s best in the borough is something I am most proud to be involved with."

Nominees also stand the chance of winning the Mayor's Award, as well as The Scarborough News Award, or Honorary Freeman Max Payne memorial trophy which will be announced on the night.
