ORGANISERS behind Filey Town Festival have announced details of this year’s programme.

Maureen Robinson, who donated a huge fisherman statue to the town, will be the Guest of Honour at the opening ceremony on Saturday, June 23.

A Guard of Honour will be provided by Filey Sea Cadets and Mrs Robinson will crown the Festival Queen, before officially opening the Festival.

The opening day will feature a craft market in the Evron Gardens and Crescent Gardens, which will continue the next day, and entertainment will come from Scandinavian Youth Bands, with further bands set to march in the street procession on Sunday.

On Saturday night, the YMCA Scarborough Musical Theatre School will return in the Concert Hall and there will be a debut visit by the St Augustine’s School Jazz Band in the Methodist Church.

The Festival will continue on Sunday, July 1, when there will be a Family Fun Day in Glen Gardens and end with a Finale Concert by the prize-winning Barton Town Band.

Applications for stalls on the craft market should be made to co-ordinator Diane Yalezo on 07580 447459.

During the Family Fun Day on Sunday, July 1, there will also be a car boot sale and for more information about pitches contact co-ordinator Andrew Rishworth on 07973 383142.
