A FILEY bride has a day to remember after marrying at the same church as her grandparents - and saying her vows to the vicar who christened her.

Kathryn Temple, 31, married Alistair Smith, from Scotland, in St Oswald’s Church, where her grandparents the Watkinsons and Jenkinsons married in 1940.

Rev Robert Hall took the service after christening Kathryn as a baby.

Mrs Smith is the daughter of Ted and Lib Temple, of Scarborough.

Mr Temple lived at Scarborough Castle’s Masters Gunners House for 20 years and his aunt and uncle were custodians at the site for 40 years.

After the wedding, the party travelled from Filey to the castle to celebrate the occasion further.
