MOTORISTS in Filey have taken heed of a new police campaign and driven down their speed, according to new figures.
Filey Police have revealed new statistics showing the majority of drivers in Scarborough Road are abiding by the 30mph limit.
A speed gun on the busy route captured almost 9,000 vehicles entering the town throughout one day, which recorded an average speed of 28mph.
Another gun, pointing towards the A165 roundabout, picked up 9,200 vehicles with a mean speed of 31mph.
Sgt Chris Gosling said: “Over the past months there have been complaints from residents in Scarborough Road and officers have continued to target it. We had one or two who were just over the limit but that was it.”
Sgt Gosling also confirmed the force had carried out 26 roadside checks on vehicles last month, with two seized for no insurance.
