MOTORISTS in the Filey and Hunmanby area are being warned to slow down as the drive to cut speeding intensifies.
North Yorkshire Police will be patrolling the A165 Reighton bypass between Sands Road and Hunmanby Road this week with its camera van.
The move comes after the force revealed 1,805 motorists had been stopped across the county, with 37 drivers facing potential bans for speeding.
Police also handed out 381 fixed penalty notices.
Insp Dave Brown, Head of Strategic Roads Policing Group for North Yorkshire Police, said: “We are disappointed that so many people have been found to be exceeding the speed limits, in particular the 37 who have been travelling significantly over the legal limit.
“We hope these results reinforce the message that speeding is unacceptable and will not be tolerated on our roads.
“If you speed you are now more likely to be caught in North Yorkshire than ever before.
“Speed kills, ignore the law and you will be punished.”
