A HUNMANBY youth group have issued an appeal for new members.
The St John Ambulance Sea Urchins Badger Sett at Hunmanby are looking to recruit up to six new members, aged between five and ten years, for their Tuesday evening meetings.
The group meets from 6.15pm until 7.30pm every week, and they undertake various subject badges and learn various skills, such as First Aid.
We are happy to take children from not only Hunmanby itself, but from the surrounding villages and from Filey also, as we originally met in Filey until our move some years ago to Hunmanby. We do not discriminate against boys or girls, although we have all girls at the moment.
The group is seen as the first step on the ladder to a St John Ambulance career, and Linda Kemp, Badger leader, said: “We not only learn such things as First Aid and entertaining, but we try to put aside some time at the beginning of the evening to have a game before we start our badge work.
“We have fun making things and learning about wild animals for our Wild Badge. We also have a break for juice and a biscuit.”
The group hold their meetings every Tuesday evening at the Cross Hill Methodist Church, Hunmanby. Please call 01845 521910 for any information.
