FILEY School has proven itself popular with local parents and pupils again after recording a large number of applications for the forthcoming year.

The Muston Road school has 118 pupils allocated for the new academic year in September, according to figures released by North Yorkshire County Council.

The represents a slight drop from the previous term’s 132 students though the numbers come after a lower overall intake of primary school pupils across the area.

County Cllr John Watson added: “We are delighted that so many of our families have again been able to gain their first preference and work with schools to make sure all of them deliver the highest standards of education.”
