FIREFIGHTERS in Filey were called to deal with a major gorse fire near Gristhorpe.
The fire, which spread to around 500 square metres, happened near the Crows Nest Caravan Park on the evening of Saturday, May 28.
Filey watch manager Nick Bennett said the blaze, which took four hours to put out, appeared to have been started by a flying Chinese lantern and was so severe that crews from Scarborough and Sherburn were also forced to attend the scene.
He added crews had to return the following day after the fire had re-ignited.
l Fire crews pulled a man from his car after a collision near Reighton Sands Holiday Park.
Mr Bennett said crews helped ambulance staff get the man out of the vehicle following the incident around 8am on Sunday, May 29, before he was taken to hospital with suspected back injuries.
