FILEY and Hunmanby residents are being urged to go green and take part in a huge carbon cutting mission.
Scarborough Council has joined the Green Neighbourhood Challenge which aims to cut the area’s carbon footprint by 11 per cent.
Dr James Bridges, Scarborough Council’s sustainability officer, said: “This is a great opportunity for a community group to get involved in a project with hands-on support to help them to reduce their carbon emissions.
“Reducing energy usage has the added value of cutting bills because these will not be so high if households learn how to use less energy to power appliances, lighting and for heating.”
The challenge runs until January 2012 and for more information contact 01904 554465. The closing date for applications is March 7.
