Councillors set to discuss post office overhaul plan
Councillors are set to discuss Filey Post Office, ahead of its planned refurbishment, which will see the service shut for a week.
They were requested to comment on the changes by a Post Office official at last night’s town council meeting, ahead of the planned closure between Wednesday 16 January to Wednesday 23 January.
The new-look Post Office opens on Thursday 24 January at 9am.
Under the changes, the opening hours at Filey post office are set to be extended under plans to refurbish the Murray Street service.
The service will now be open on a Saturday afternoon, with the branch opening between 9am and 5.30pm Monday to Saturday.
The post office will be given an open-plan branch layout. It will feature a mixture of five traditional screened counter positions and open plan, with a post office serving point provided for use at the retail counter and available during shop opening hours.
Post Office regional network manager for Central England, Adrian Wales, said: “We are confident that this new modern post office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”
