Norma granted her final wish
A HUNMANBY woman who died aged 67 has been granted her final wish – to see the sea front for one last time.
Norma Jean Hood, of Farfield Manor Farm, had been battling cancer and died in St Catherine’s Hospice surrounded by her family.
She was a partner in the building firm Lancaster Properties, along with husband John, and worked as a site manager.
As part of her funeral procession, Mrs Hood was taken by horse and carriage around Scarborough’s South Bay, Marine Drive and on to Woodlands Crematorium.
Her son Bryan Worth, 44, who lives in Royal Crescent Lane, said: “I remember her saying she wanted to see the sea front for one last time, and she did keep horses herself in the past.
“She loved Scarborough and this was very important to her.”
He added that his mother was born in Wales and as her parents died young, she was brought up by her uncle in Scarborough.
Mr Worth said: “She loved being in Scarborough and she also loved travelling - but she’s on her biggest journey now.”
He describes his mother as “tough but kind, a hard-working woman who always put others before herself”.
Mrs Hood leaves her husband, John, sons David, Bryan and John, daughter Carrie, and grandchildren Tanya, Adam, Gareth, Charlie, Evelyn and Gracie.
