Simone takes the helm

FILEY Children's Centre has a new manager.

Simone Wilkinson, who has succeeded Priya Venkatesh in the role, has an extensive background in working with children, young people and families and hopes to help develop more services for children and families who live in Filey and the surrounding area.

She said: "I really want to make sure the centre meets the needs of the community and adds value to existing provision"

Current plans include more sessions being delivered in Hunmanby and Sherburn and the Filey Centre being open on Saturday mornings for craft activities, family learning and family cooking sessions.

From 10am to noon on Saturday April 25 the centre will also introduce a Dads, Lads and Lasses session where dads can come along with their children and take part in activities together.

Other new activities include "Bounce and Rhyme" at Sherburn Village Hall – a six-week stay and play session starting on Friday April 17, with a particular focus on speech and language development through singing and rhyming
