The killer convicted of murdering tragic Jonathan Binns was sentenced separately after it emerged he had been attacked in custody,

His nose covered in strapping and his eyes blackened, murderer Kevin Pickering stood silently in the dock as a judge handed down a life sentence for the bloody murder last August.

Pickering, who had previous convictions for drug offences and a wounding, was sentenced separately from the other three defendants having not been in court for the last few days of the trial after the court heard that following issues between him and others he had been attacked in prison suffering a broken nose, fractured jaw and black eyes.

The other three defendants appeared together, with David White, Jim Cousins and Nicolas Polihronos jailed for a combined total of 37 years for manslaughter.

It’s not known yet how the attack happened, or who committed it.
