A Scarborough man has been stabbed following a botched late-night robbery in Eastfield.
Three men approached the victim outside of the Eastway Social Club, demanding his mobile phone.
When he refused, one of the assailants stabbed him with a short bladed knife, before fleeing empty handed.
Detectives are now appealing for witnesses, after they made public details of the attack at 12.10am on Monday 5 May.
Police say the 23-year-old victim received treatment at the scene from paramedics for the stabbing, which caused a superficial wound to the body.
The only description of the three men is that they were dressed casually and were wearing scarves.
Detective Constable Clair Gascoyne, investigating the incident, said: “If you were in the area of the Eastway Social Club around the time of the incident, I urge you to come forward as you may have vital information which could help to identify the man responsible for this attempted robbery.
“I also need to speak to anyone who can help with this enquiry and ask them to get in touch.”
Anyone who can help officers with this enquiry should contact Scarborough police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Clair Gascoyne. Alternatively, information can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
