UPDATE: Woman killed in collision from Scarborough

Police have revealed that a woman who died in a collision near Sinnington on Sunday was a 55-year-old from Scarborough.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman added: “The rider of the bike who is the woman’s husband, is aged 63 and from Scarborough.

“He remains in Hull Royal Infirmary in a serious but stable condition.

“Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them.”

The crash happened at around 4.30pm on Sunday on the A170 at the junction with Marton Road in the village of Sinnington, between Pickering and Kirkbymoorside.

A dark coloured Land Rover Discovery was travelling through Sinnington and turning right into Marton Road when it was in collision with a dark coloured Kawasaki motorcycle which was travelling towards Pickering.

Officers want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw either vehicle prior to impact or who saw the collision take place, to contact them.

Anyone with information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for the Major Collision Investigation Team.

The road was closed to allow the casualties to be recovered, for collision investigators to examine the scene and for the vehicles to be recovered, it reopened at around 1.30am.
