Cheers – Wold Top Brewery is helping book-lovers drink to the success of Scarborough Literature Festival by making a special ale.
Best Seller beer brewed by the Hunmanby-based company will be sold in the run up to and during Books by the Beach in April.
WWold Top Brewery and the Scarborough book festival are keen to work on this joint project providing just one example of the strength of community partnerships in the town,” said festival co-director Peter Guttridge.
From the beginning of next month Best Seller beer mats will be distributed then in April the special label beer will be available. Authors taking part in the festival will be presented with bespoke bottles of ‘Best Seller as a memento of their trip to Scarborough.
Wold Top is also providing Best Seller for a Books and Beer event in the festival and there will be opportunities to win the beer. A full programme of fringe events will be running alongside the main event.
Books by the Beach runs from Thursday April 24 to Sunday April 29. Among those lined up to appear are Lucy Worsely, Joanna Trollope, Margaret Drabble, Joanne Harris, James Naughtie, Peter Snow and Kate Adie.
“As well as celebrating locally-based writers and storytellers, the festival brings top writers and broadcasters to Scarborough,’ said co-director Heather French.
“And it’s an opportunity to show them all the town has to offer.
“A high-profile festival will bring visitors to the town and be good for tourism and trade.’
Programmes are expected to be out at the end of this month and tickets will be on sale from Scarborough Tourist Information Centre in the Brunswick Shopping Centre.
