A team of young Filey runners are the toast of their school after winning a North Yorkshire title.

The Year 4 girls cross-country Filey Junior School team, who are leading the way in the Scarborough and District Schools Partnership cross-country league, entered the county championship at Catterick and claimed top spot in the competition.

Their school coach Sharon Mills was delighted with the effort the girls put in and their success.

“This is a great achievement by the Year 4 girls, it is excellent to see their teammates cheer them on in the Scarborough events and to win the county championship is brilliant.”

Both the Year 3 and the Year 4 girls teams will now be looking to wrap up a win in their local league as there is only one event remaining, at Scarborough College on April 24, and they are leading the way in both age-groups.
