New move for charity in former agent site

A CHARITY is set to launch a new base in Filey.

Age UK will move into the town next month in the former Vickers Estate Agent office, in Belle Vue Street.

The resource centre will open for the public on Tuesday, May 8, with an official ceremony set for Monday, May 21, which is set to feature Filey Town Crier David Bull.

Pam Utley, the venue’s manager, confirmed the charity were currently refurbishing the building and hoped to offer residents across Filey and Hunmanby a raft of activities.

She said: “We want it to be a resource centre and a place where people can come and have a cup of tea and read the paper if they wish.

“We are going to have all of the services we have in Aberdeen Walk, in Scarborough, but on people’s doorsteps in Filey.

“We are also going to have darts and dominoes and card-making activities too.”

Mrs Utley added they would be holding a big prize raffle, with tickets on sale from Tuesday, May 8, with the draw made at the big opening.

She said the charity was looking for anyone interested in volunteering and helping out to come forward.
