A GRAND garden party to celebrate the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton has been unveiled for Filey.
Residents and groups in the town have joined forces to draw up plans for an event in the Evron Centre Gardens and are now looking for entertainers to showcase their talents at the Friday, April 29 event.
Scarborough Council has previously helped community groups who want to stage their own street parties through a series of training days that gave advice on issues such as road closures, insurance and entertainment licences.
The Filey gathering is likely to be one of the largest in the borough.
However, the council have confirmed it is not making any financial contribution towards street parties.
Matthew Joseph, Scarborough Council’s community officer and an organiser of the party, added: “This will be a real good old fashioned community event complete with bunting.
“We will be encouraging Filey residents and visitors to join us in a large community picnic and we are hoping that we can use the event to showcase the talents of Filey people.”
Anyone who would like to help at the event or find out more information should contact Matthew Joseph on 07786 621924.
