THE Rotary Club of Filey has welcomed a new president.

Peter Milnes took over the collar and jewel from Chris Shackleton during a presentation in the White Lodge Hotel.

Mr Milnes’ appointment sees him become the 65th Rotary Club of Filey president.

Married to wife Louise, Mr Milnes, is well-known around Hunmanby and surrounding villages for his car sales business and has been a Rotarian for the past ten years.

He has previously chaired a number of Rotary committees and also been the Chair of Governors for Hunmanby Primary School for a number of years.

He said he was looking forward to his year in office, which would allow him the opportunity to take the helm and direct the club not only to serve the local community, but also nationally and internationally under the banner of Rotary.

Outgoing president Mr Shackleton added he had enjoyed his year and thanked members of the club, but also those outside who have contributed in so many ways to help the Rotary Club of Filey reach its goals.
