RESIDENTS across the Filey and Hunmanby area are being urged to make the right choice and register for their right to vote.
Scarborough Council has appealed for people to get on the electoral roll in time for the prospective Police and Crime Commissioners vote next year.
The authority is currently delivering canvass forms to homeowners in the area to check and amend their details, with the warning that anyone who refuses to provide information could be fined up to £200.
Sue Bedford, Scarborough Council’s Elections Officer, added: “Providing all details are unchanged it is quick, simple and free and we hope more people will take advantage of the services.
“We also urge residents to deal with the form as soon as it arrives.
“The more people that deal with their form quickly, the fewer canvassers need to be employed to chase up outstanding forms.
“If you do not register now you may lose the chance to have your say on how services are provided in your area.”
Anyone who needs further help in completing electoral forms should contact the Elections Office helpline on (01723) 232309 or (01723) 383545.
A revised register of electors is available at Filey’s Evron Centre.
