Councillor wins new seat in election battle

A FORMER Filey Town councillor has been elected on member Chris Hodgson has been elected onto Folkton and Flixton Parish Council.

Cllr Chris Hodgson, who recently stepped down from his Filey role, was voted in last week during the borough elections.

Cllr Hodgson, who no longer fulfilled the requirements of being a Filey councillor after moving to live and work outside its boundaries, was joined on this new council by Alan Bower, Melvyn Brown, Jill Carroll, Thomas Creswell, Bryan Found, Charles Moxlow, Kenneth Robinson and Linda Thompson following the ballot.

Filey Town Council are looking to fill the void left by Cllr Hodgson and fellow Cllrs Sam Cross, Aileen Newbury, Julie Viles and David Murton.

The council want four people to come forward who have an interest in their local community and want to make a difference to the area.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday, May 17.
