STAR pupils at Filey School have been honoured by a local group for their hard work and success.

Students who showed “outstanding effort, hard work and commitment to succeed” were rewarded by the Filey Rotary Club at the school this week.

Over a dozen pupils received a certificate and £20 shopping vouchers from the President of Filey Rotary, Peter Milnes.

Names of the students have also been engraved on the Rotary plaque at Filey School.

The Rotary Club dish out the awards and prizes annually to students who they feel pass the grade.

Filey School headteacher Mr Dickinson was full of praise for all of the students, saying in a statement: “Thank you to Filey Rotary for their continued support for and recognition of the success of Filey School students through their generosity in providing the ‘Application to Learning Award’.”

He added: “Thanks also to Mr Peter Milnes, President of Filey Rotary, for giving his time to present the awards personally.”

“Well done and keep it up”.
