A FILEY dog lover will be throwing herself in at the deep end for a charity swim tomorrow.

Angela Dean, who runs Scruff’s, in the Brig Centre, is set to show off her own doggy paddle during a swim from Hunmanby Gap to Filey to raise money for Yorkshire Coast Dog Rescue.

Last year Angela raised more than £1,300 after braving the chilly North Sea waters for the cause, and said she hoped to do better this year.

She said: “This is really the only event that brings in the big chuck of money for the charity.

“Each dog costs £50 a week just for its kennels fees and that is without any fees for food or vet bills.

“It’s not easy but I’ve done a fair bit of swimming in the past and it is something I can do which will help the charity so I am more than willing to have a go again.

“I encourage everyone to come down and have a good time.”

The day, which will get under way at around 11am down at Hunmanby Gap, will also feature a visit from a number of dogs from the rescue centre as well as various stalls and a tombola.

There will also be a fancy dress competition for the best dressed pooch with prizes for the top dog.
