MOTORISTS in Filey driven despair by the town’s roads are set to receive some respite after £82,000 improvement works were carried out on three busy routes.
Contractors have this week carried out intensive resurfacing work to Station Avenue, Belle Vue Crescent and The Beach.
The work, part of North Yorkshire County Council’s continuing resurfacing programme, did cause some delays for motorists travelling into the town, with temporary traffic lights causing slight hold-ups.
However, Nick West, the authority’s Area Highways Manager, told the Mercury the work had gone well and expected it to have been completed by today.
Mr West said work would also start in Hunmanby next week to complete a section in Malton Road.
The original upgrades were delayed earlier this year after had started in Bridlington Street as contractors from Yorkshire Water needed access to the route to carry out essential repairs.
He added improvements would also be carried out on the level crossing in Sands Lane near Cayton and Folkton Carrs.
