CLUBS voted against new sides starting in a higher division, at the Evening News Scarborough and District Saturday League EGM this week.
New teams West Pier Reserves, Ryedale, Newlands Res and Eastfield Res put their names forward to be placed straight into the second division, but the member clubs rejected the idea.
They instead opted to alter the constitution to 12 in
divisions one and two and 14 in division three.
Four clubs did make the move up to division two from the bottom tier though.
Tennyson, Stakesby Arms, Rillington Athletic and Shades all agreed to promotion from division three.
They joined Hull University and Seamer Sports, who were promoted last season.
Cayton Corinthians kept their place in the top flight, where they will be joined by new sides Burniston and Newlands Park.
Ayton, who have two Saturday League sides, were the only member club not to attend the meeting.
