SCARBOROUGH Athletic Club held the second round of the Summer Handicap races at Reasty Tops near Hackness.
Forty-five club members competed over a tough 3.1 mile cross country course.

The first two finishers on handicap, who achieved a most unusual dead heat were Nicola Spence and Jeanette Richards, who both improved their finishing positions in
the first race.

Nicola improved from 12th at the opening race, while Jeanette who was 29th last time is now fifth overall for the series.

In third place was Sarah Adams who was classed as a non scoring guest runner, as this was her first handicap, and therefore she did not have a handicap time.

The third scoring finisher was Sue Louth who also made good progress in the series after finishing in 25th in the opening summer handicap fixture.

The first three leaders of the series so far are Pete Barnard who has a good five-point lead over Darren Rogers, who in turn is six points clear of Katy Rawnsley in third.

It was business as usual for the main contenders in the fastest male and female in the series trophies.

Ben Mukherjee and the previous series overall fastest, Richard Maw were once again the first and second respectively, while Ted Kraft who was fourth fastest for the first race, improved to third.

Ted is now also third overall, with Ben and Richard in overall pole and runner-up spot respectively.

Katy Rawnsley recovered well from her great run in the Edinburgh marathon to finish ahead of previous series fastest winner Hester Butterworth, in a repeat of the first race result, and the pair therefore occupy those positions overall for the series.

Sue Haslam who was fourth fastest in the opening fixture, improved to third in this race and overall for the series so far.
