A hard-fought merits event took place at Eastfield with 58 players competing in an event sponsored by Honda Marshall of Seamer.
The final produced some excellent bowling with Phil Todd and Pete Richards taking the trophy by beating Dennis O’Neill and Ron Marshall 21-12.
The quarter-finals results were: Dennis O’Neill & Ron Marshall beat Mick Hill & Sheila Dyson 21-14; Rex & Edna Trickett beat Tom Mottram & Dave Wilson 21-19, Terry Summersgill & Jack Binns beat Derrick Swift & Tommy Chalmers 21-17; & Phil Todd & Pete Richards beat John Cooper & Sonny Howard 21-18.
In a baking sun the semis went as follows: Dennis O’Neill & Ron Marshall beat Rex & Edna Trickett 21-11; & Phil Todd & Pete Richards beat Terry Summersgill & Jack Binns 21-14.
