HARRY Keary led the way for Filey as the squad finished runners-up in the year three/four boys event at the Scarborough Evening News-sponsored primary schools cross-country championships.
The championships were held over a series of three races, with the finale at a wet and windy Scarborough College where Harry came third - matching his finish in the overall standings.

He was well-supported by Tom Booth, while there were also some notable Filey performances in the year five/six boys and girls sections, particularly from Ellery Liley, who was third overall in the boys event.

Year 3/4 boys: Matthew Bowman (St Martin's) 74pts, Miles I'Anson (Lindhead) 72, Harry Keary (Filey) 63, John Sykes (Scarborough College) 62, James Ledner (Newby) 61, Thomas Mummert (Northstead) 60, C Mummert (Northstead) 51, Tom Booth (Filey) 46.

Year 3/4 girls: Hester Hardy (Lindhead) 78pts, Kate Brearley (Northstead) 69, Isabelle Metcalfe (St Peter's) 66.

Year 5/6 boys: Ryan Ogden (Northstead) 76pts, Jordan Kirk (St Martin's) 74, Ellery Liley (Filey) 65.

Year 5/6 girls: Hannah Bayes (Newby) 78pts, Grace Sykes (Scarborough College) 71, Sarah Platten (Newby) 69, B McLaren (Bramcote) 54, O Butterworth (Lindhead) 52, Katie Lewis (Scar College) 46, Shenel Biggins (Filey) 45, Anzanna Lincoln (Filey) 44, Rachel Sherbourne (Gladstone Rd) 36, Jessica Heap (Filey) 33.
