HUNMANBY Hornets could be set to rejoin the Sunday League after a six year gap.
The club, which folded at the beginning of the 2003-2004 season, are planning to reform ahead of Wednesday night's league annual general meeting.
Chairman and manager Chris Duley has submitted an application to the league, now they must wait to see
if they are accepted at next week's meeting.
Between 20 and 30 players have already shown an interest in playing for the side, all of whom hail from the village.
Among these players are Darren and Chris Crawford, Lee Micklethwaite, Matty Pearson and Nick Ringrose.
Duley said: "The application is in, now we are just hoping to be voted in.
"We had a meeting last week to form a committee and see how many people were interested in playing.
"Between 20 and 30 lads are wanting to sign up. All of them are Hunmanby lads, who haven't been playing in the Sunday League for a few seasons.
"We have some good facilities down there and a good team waiting to play. Now we just want to get in and get going."
Should Hunmanby gain entry then they will take their place in the third division.
A number of other teams have expressed an interest in joining the Sunday set-up.
They are The Sun, Pirates, who will be based at the Ship pub on Falsgrave, and TKOs.
