FILEY Spartans were voted in at the Evening News Saturday League AGM but the make-up of next season's league will be decided at an extraordinary general meeting at the Mere Club on Monday.
At the AGM, the constitution could not be agreed for the 2008/09 campaign mainly because of problems with the second division having just eight sides.

Tennyson were asked to go up into the second division but secretary Mick Stephenson said that he
wanted to consult his players first.

Four teams would consider moving into division two, including three of the new teams along with Shades, but a vote was passed to hold an EGM next week so clubs have the opportunity to think over any changes.

It was announced that Duchess, McCain, Eastfield Hotel and Whitby Fisherlads have quit the league, while eight new clubs were voted in - Filey Spartans, Seamer Sports Reserves, Eastfield Reserves, Riskers, Castle Tavern, Ryedale, West Pier Reserves and Newlands Reserves.

Fleece failed to attend the meeting and were voted out by the present clubs while last season’s bottom two Ayton Reserves and Scalby Reserves were re-elected.

A decision was also passed which will see the captain of every team wear an armband next season.

Monday’s EGM will start at 7pm with all clubs asked to attend.
