SCARBOROUGH Town are continuing to reap the benefits from a crop of youngsters who have all grown up together.
Seven players from that successful side are now plying their trade with the Wearside League outfit, and many of the others are still playing regularly.
One of the success stories is Leigh Franks, who plays for League One side Huddersfield Town, while Darren Clough at Pickering Town and Rhys Crowe at Kirkbymoorside are still impressing.
Town boss Mitch Cook, who coached that side from the very beginning, said: “Many of them were playing above their age-group but we still won an awful lot of games.
“Some matches were against Football League clubs and we were beating the likes of Hull City and Leeds United.
“Leigh Franks stood out as one of the better players, but all of these lads chipped in and many are still doing it at a decent level of football.
“You always get players who drop out but I’m sure they all benefitted from the coaching we gave them.”
