Cayton Junior School will go on to represent the area in the North Yorkshire School Games after winning the Year 5/6 finals at Wykeham CC.

The Cayton team proved too strong for Newby & Scalby in a cracking final at Wykeham’s ground, and they will now represent the Scarborough area at the regional final at York CC next month.

Cayton posted 226-6 in the final and Newby replied with 202-7.

Seven teams competed in the event, with Cayton having beaten Northstead, St Martin’s and Newby in Group Two.

Seamer and Gladstone Road qualified from Group One, but both lost to Cayton and Newby respectively in the semi-finals. Seamer made 207-5 and Cayton amassed 277-1 in reply, while in the other semi Gladstone posted 230-5, Newby making 255-1.

If Cayton win the regional final they will move through to the county final, and victory in the latter would see them move through to the national finals at Headingley a week later.
