Staithes lost to relegation threatened team Cloughton denting their chances of retaining the Readers Scarborough Beckett League Premier League title, but giving a lifeline to the hosts of avoiding the drop into Division A.

Ricky Nock, 38, and Sean Exley, 36, added 71 for Cloughton’s fourth wicket to set up a total of 172-9 on their own track.

Staithes skipper Simon Bowes claimed 3-36 from his 12 overs for Staithes.

Replying the visitors had little to offer against the pace of former Scarborough man Mark Wells, who claimed 3-38 from 17 overs, while the spin of skipper Jake Dudding, 4-33 from 14, as the visitors were bowled out for just 100.
