FILEY FC joined the Sunday League at Wednesday's AGM, but an extra meeting has been called to discuss the constitution of the league.
Two new clubs were voted into the league, Weaponness Park Rangers and FC Filey.
FC Filey are a team catering for the Filey Boys & Girls Club players who have now become too old for the Minor League.
They will play their first seas
on at Filey School, but after that they will play at the new stadium being built for the junior club off Scarborough Road.
Rangers are a team of ex-Minor League players, mainly 17 and 18 years old, who will play at Oliver's Mount.
The proposed league make-up of eight teams in division one, 10 in division two and 11 in division three was turned down, and as the clubs need notice of any changes to the constitution the proposal of nine teams in division one, 10 teams in division two and 10 in division three can now be rubber-stamped at the EGM at a venue to be decided on Wednesday July 16.
The new 9-10-10 format would see United Sports saved from relegation from the top flight.
Commercial would be promoted from division three as would Castle Tavern.
At the meeting United Sports and Commercial agreed to the new constitution in principle, while Tavern’s Andy Borrie asked to talk to his players about the move, although even if Tavern had agreed to the changes there would still have had to be an EGM to confirm the new-look league.
Third division Blacksmiths resigned from the league just hours before the meeting due to a lack of manager.
Veteran Albert Eadon won the league referee of the year award, while Commercial’s Mike Clark scooped the secretary of the year prize.
The fair play awards went to West Pier in division one, Burniston & Cloughton in division two and Riley’s in division three.
The sportsman’s award was won by third division side Merchant.
Spa’s James Prethero was also voted onto the committee.
