Brighouse Old Boys will be the next team to try to end Ovenden West Riding’s long winning run in the Halifax FA Albert Crabtree Cup.
At least the West Yorkshire League side will have ground advantage for the semi-final against West Riding CA champions Ovenden, who have lifted this trophy for the last five years, on Saturday, March 16.
The pair beat beat Halifax AFL opposition from down the Calder Valley on Saturday, Brighouse defeating Premier Division leaders Midgley United 3-1 and Ovenden accounting for Division One table toppers Hebden Royd Red Star by 4-0 away.
Calder ‘76 were 4-0 winners over “minnows” Spring Hall Celtic in Saturday’s other quarter-final. The only remaining AFL survivors will be away to Elland-based Yorkshire Amateur League side Huddersfield Amateurs, who had previously beaten Halifax Irish Club, in the other semi-final.
